A Program that Works - Dig Pink

When a program works, it works because it pulls together the mission of the school and makes the mission operational.  Programs are most successful when they tap into deep seated values and those values reflect the values of the school and the community.

The girls' Volleyball team sponsors a volleyball tournament each year - and isn't that what all schools do?  The difference here is that the tournament is called "Dig Pink" and all the proceeds of the tournament go to supporting breast cancer research.  I have watched this program grow for four years and have seen the sponsors run the risk of dressing their own teams in pink  - only to see now many of the teams dress in pink. What began as a one school event is now a regional event and the work of these young women goes to benefit others.

What would happen if every school athletic event sponsored some social action agency or service?

Great work ladies!!
